Soft Services Theraplush “Hold” Review: A Night Cream Worth Holding Onto

I just finished my first pod of the Soft Services THERAPLUSH “Hold” Overnight Repair Treatment, and I’ve already ordered the refill because I. am. obsessedddd. If that’s not a glowing endorsement, I don’t know what is.

Let’s start with the smell. The brand describes it as “subtle, warming spices blended with softly powdered florals. A skin-like, woodsy musk gently lingers as you say good night.” And honestly, they nailed it. It’s soft and comforting—like slipping into clean sheets or lighting a candle at the end of a long day. It’s the kind of scent that makes you slow down for a moment and breathe it in.

I also love the thoughtfulness behind the design. Instead of tossing out an entire container every time you run out, you can buy a refill pod. The outer container is sturdy and chic; swapping in a new pod is easy and satisfying. It’s a small thing, but it makes me feel better about using a nightly treatment long-term.

The cream is rich but sinks into my skin like a dream—no sticky or wet feeling after applying (we know that’s the worst). It’s formulated with retinol, colloidal oatmeal, and panthenol, which Soft Services says “helps repair and restore hands and cuticles worn down by harsh weather, manual work, and aging.” That said, it’s not for sensitive skin, and you shouldn’t use it if your hands are sunburned or exposed to sunlight soon after applying (retinol can make skin more sensitive to UV). It’s hard not to want to use it during the day, too, but I’m trying to play by the rules.

While I’m not sure I’ve seen a significant transformation in how my hands look, they feel softer every morning when I wake up. I travel often, so I didn’t use it every night, and with inconsistent use, one pod lasted me about two months, which felt worth the price.

If you’re looking for a luxe, functional, and beautifully designed hand treatment that fits seamlessly into your nighttime routine, Hold might be the one.
